Meet the Founder:
Engineering Compliance & Project Delivery by Michael Waite, MSc, BSc(Hons), Principal Consultant & Functional Safety Professional (TÜV SÜD)
With over 35 years of engineering experience, I bridge the gap between technical safety regulations and the operational reality of running a high-hazard plant. My career has evolved from hands-on electrical engineering to senior leadership roles, including Head of Technological Development and COMAH Manager for a major high-security manufacturing facility.
I understand the pressure Plant Managers and Duty Holders face because I have sat in their chair. I have successfully led operations in Tier 2 COMAH environments, managing everything from production and quality to deep engineering compliance.
My approach is not just about ticking boxes; it is about designing safety solutions that work for production. I have a proven track record of elevating safety standards, successfully guiding COMAH operations to achieve and maintain 'Very Good' HSE intervention ratings through rigorous process safety management.
MSc Industry: 4.0 Advanced Manufacturing (Distinction) allowing me to integrate modern automation and data solutions into safety-critical environments.
BSc (Hons): Electrical & Electronic Engineering (First Class): Underpinning my compliance work is a First Class Honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, providing a deep technical understanding of control systems and their ignition risks.
DSEAR & ATEX: I am a certified DSEAR Responsible Person (Ex14) with extensive experience producing verification dossiers and managing hazardous area installations.
Functional Safety: As a TÜV SÜD Functional Safety Professional, I am well placed to ensure safety instrumented systems are designed and maintained correctly.
Project Delivery: I hold the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and have delivered multiple complex capital projects, including Precious Metal Recovery systems and automated assay labs, within live process environments.
